Was I being rude staring?

I'm so embarrassed that this happened and maybe I'm overthinking. I had red lobster this morning with my family and we were right next to a screaming child. The kid looked around 5 or 6 and he was just screaming and the dad kept asking him to use his signs. I didn't know what that meant but maybe it means sign language. I just kept staring because this kid would not stop. So dad gave him a tablet and told him to watch Ms. Rachel. Maybe I was making faces. I didn't mean to if I was and he looked at me and yelled at me "Yes! I do screen time! Do you want him to scream or watch something?!" I looked away and had tears in my eyes because I hate being yelled at. Was I rude for staring.
