Surrogacy ?!

Question

What does everyone think about surrogacy? What does everyone feel about being a surrogate?
What if you needed the money and know you would get a minimum of $75,000?
What if you are making up for a mistake from when you were younger? 
Please everyone be respectful of others views. I am just curious how others view surrogacy.

Surrogacy is a valid option for some families. Choosing to be a surrogate is a personal decision. Their reason for participating in surrogacy is private, and not anyone else’s business. No one need offer their “opinion” as long as it’s being done ethically, and all parties involved are fully informed and willingly participating.

What do you mean make up for a mistake? 
I think being a surrogate is a wonderful thing to do for another woman. I have a friend who had pregnancy trauma from a collapsed pelvis during her first pregnancy. She used a surrogate and wouldn't have her daughter without it. 
If you are healthy and will take care of the baby as you're own and be able to hand it over after, it's a wonderful thing to do

I don’t know what you mean by “making up for a mistake from when you were younger.” 
But I think surrogacy is an amazing gift. I’ve often thought that I would love to be a surrogate for one of the gay couples my husband and I are friends with (not for money, but because they would be amazing parents) but with my history of miscarriage, and now my age, I wouldn’t be a good candidate.

I think the fertility and adoption industry is unethical and needs some major reform. Being a part of the community as an adoptee, there are so many things that need to change. Listening to adoptees, those born through surrogacy, and donor conceived people; we need to recognize the issues and push for change in these industries. 
I’m not saying any of these are inherently wrong, but these industries need to change to make them child centered. 
I used to want to be a surrogate, have offered it to friends and family who struggled with fertility, but listening to experiences of people who actually did it, I have switched positions on it.

I think it’s great, I think if I wasn’t able to have kids I would look into adoption, just because my state has SO many kids and babies with no homes😭 but I would 100% be a surrogate for any of my family members if they needed one!

I think it can be a wonderful thing. But I don’t think it’s for everyone. I’ve personally thought about being one. I just worry about the strain on my body, how it would effect my children, and if I would have attachment issues. I worry that it would hurt me mentally to not be coming home with the baby, even though it’s not mine. That and you have to be at a certain BMI and some people are picky about things. But I think for the right people it’s a blessing.

There's nothing wrong with surrogacy. It's a great way for many parents to be able to have a child. Any reputable company will have heavy guildlines, medical requirements, and psychological evaluations for surrogates. Guidlines are very strict for a reason. Women are typically required to be done having children as the process can greatly impact fertility. Some basic disqualification are never having given birth, being on wic or food stamps (any government assistance), BMI, breastfeeding, c-sections, history of pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, HG, high risk pregnancy, under 21 or over 40, PCOS, history of miscarriage, endometriosis, (if in the US) not a US citizen, some states are not surrogacy friendly and make it BEYOND difficult to be a surrogate, smoking, unsafe living enviornment, history of substance abuse, mental health issues (even anxiety), STDs, no support system, financial instability, unhealthy lifestyle, and much more.
