911 for my Threenager

G

Harrison is 3 1/2. This Pandemic kid is a wild second child. He has gone to daycare (now preschool) at the same place for 2 1/2 years. Not important but it’s the same place my almost 7 year old went from 1-5, so some of the teachers are like family at this point.

Well this child has decided that he no longer wants to attend. Cries every morning (especially Monday). Won’t get dressed. Won’t put his shoes or jacket on. More recently he has come up with really unbelievable stall tactics. He peed his pants on the way out the door. He started arching his back so we can’t buckle him into his car seat. It’s almost impossible to get him to school without my husband being late for work.

(I work from home and take my older one to school while dad works in office and drops off H on his way in)

Sometimes he ends up staying home because we physically can’t get him to school and I just make it work while I’m working.

When we finally get him to school, he cries and hugs onto my husbands legs and doesn’t want him to go.

The teachers say he calms down almost as soon as my husband pulls away and typically has a great day.

He’s a talker, so we’ve asked if someone (friend/teacher) is bothering him, hurting him, yelling at him. The answer to all probing is no. No signs of abuse, no signs of bullying, no signs of anything terrible. (He also smirks and rolls his eyes and laughs when we talk about why he wants to stay home, it’s a game)

I truly don’t know what to do with him at this point. My oldest did the same thing at this age but then the pandemic happened so we had him home for 14 months with us so we didn’t have to do anything about it.

Anyone else go through this? What did you do?
