What my gynac said! Advise pls

Question

I am new in the city i now live in. 7 months ago went to a gynac for pre-conception check. Now went to her again for some advise and she said some pretty shocking things.

The point that she was trying to make is do t be anxious. Dont think abt having a baby. It will happen - additionally what she said was -  not every woman get what they want. Being a mother is not the ultimate thing.

I have no idea where that came from.

I told her that i started accupuncture from this cycle and it seems to help. She shunned it down and said accupuncture dsnt really help. I said then it mist be psychological because it helps generally with stress.

What do you guys think? Should i find a new gynac? She almost made me cry with her words.

I don't see anything wrong with what she said. To me, it sounded like she was telling you to not get stressed over it and to stay calm. Which does help with conception in general. I don't think there's anything wrong with telling you not to be anxious. The comment referring to some women not getting what they want, which I am assuming is getting pregnant, I do not think was meant to be hurtful or unmotivating but rather realistic. Then the last comment about being a mother is not the ultimate thing I feel was her way of saying if things do not work out it is OK. Maybe she shouldn't have gone there in general as a gynecologist, I personally would not. However, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with what she did say.

She seemed to be very factual. I dont think she was wrong. Now the acupuncture is a personal opinion. If she doesn't believe in eastern medicine ahe probably will not place too much value in acupuncture. If you like it and it helps to destress you go ahead and do what makes you happiest.

To me my gyno is a person I have to trust. So I would go to another one. As an aside after 4 failed iuis I got pregnant on the one that I did acupuncture with.

If she really made you feel like crying try another doc. But she did not say anything insane. She may have gone a bit far by telling you the not every woman can be a mom bit. As for everything else, she is a medical professional trained in conventional medicine. In her line of expertise the studies do not show that acupuncture helps pregnancy. If she told a patient that it does she could get in trouble because conventional western medicine does not back her claim. So I would not be upset unless you felt she was rude or disrespectful or you think you can find a doctor who is friendlier to alternative methods.
