Looking for thanksgiving meal ideas. And everyone has their own family meal traditions. Let me know your favorite!

We do foods that aren't the norm I guess but we do cedar plank salmon and venison steaks. Garlic and fern roasted potatoes. Herb bread rolls with a  shallot compound butter.  Roasted root veggies. Roasted corn and.couscous salad. For dessert we do a cheesecake with lingonberry compote. Cranberry sweet biscuits. Honeyed nuts and berries. Pear tarts. Rolled pastries with quince paste. If any of that interests you let me know and I can give you the recipe. We dont do like turkey or whatever usually and use whatever I've hunted or grown or canned so its all local to my home so not sure how availabe all ingredients are everywhere.

Answer

We smoke a turkey with cornbread stuffing (yes, i am firmly in the stuff the bird camp), plus cranberry sauce, roasted root veggies (carrots, rutabagas, sweet potatoes), mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits and gravy. Everything homemade/from scratch. (Smoking the turkey leaves your oven/stove wide open all day—its awesome.)
