How can I afford college or community college?

So for religious reasons we are not allowed to take out loans. My husband gets paid well and maybe could afford to pay for me but it might make us live paycheck to paycheck considering all the other expense we have and the assets he is paying off (no loan). I came to the states from the UK where university is 9k and some change and to see how much it costs in the States is jaw dropping. 
Is there a way to pay less where it’s more affordable? I’m desperate 😭 I really want to get my degree
(Yes most people on my religion pick and chose when the loan stuff applies + difference of opinion but this isn’t the topic of discussion for now)

I’m assuming you’re Muslim? If so, I suggest looking into an Islamic/halal bank. See if there’s any in your state. If that doesn’t work, I would just see if your husband can pay for it. It might be financially tough at first, but I’m sure it’ll pay off after you get your degree. Also apply for as many scholarships as possible!

Don’t go to a university, you can find a state college where tuition is cheaper but you may have to bend a little with what your degree actually says. I go to a state college and I’m getting a B.S.I.T when i wanted a bachelors in computer science, but I’m paying around $100 a credit hour vs $300 at the local university. Still getting the same jobs though!

File for financial aid. Even if they deny it. Not sure of the income. 60k or less or more. You need a green card or citizenship to apply. There’s a separate daca app through the state. There’s a huge book of scholarships that Barnes and nobles sells. Just ask. You don’t have to buy it just spend the day going through the ones that apply to you. Some are income based. Some are not. Some you have to write an essay or send financials. Take picture of the ones that apply to you. Check with your religious affiliation if they have any scholarships. Check your local community college. Hit the search button and type in scholarships they should have a list of specific ones available. County Freeholder. The school may have foundation scholarships. There’s 4 types of financial Aid regular federal your Pell. 3 states ones. Tag, eof educational opportunity fund and ccog community college opportunity grant. They are currently using 2021 taxes you may want to start doing your taxes separate single or head of household if you have kids so you can get financial aid in the future. When You fill out the Fafsa on the last page for confirmation there’s a button that links to the state app make sure you click that and toward the bottom there’s an efc number the closer you are to 00000 the better. The higher the number the less you get. Another option is working for a company that has a tuition reimbursement program. Like Amazon they pay for your school and give you a voucher for each semester. Or other companies based on your grade or do an 80/20% etc. check with Human Resources what benefits packages they have.
