Why does society look down on promiscuous woman?

I noticed that some people looked down on me about my promiscuity when there is nothing wrong with it. Why do some people look down on that?

I'll likely get hate for this, but that's fine. Personally I don't have a good view of anyone who is promiscuous, not just women. I grew up in a sex positive home with parents in open/poly relationships so I was taught to be open minded. However my own personal moral code and views have made me view promiscuity in a different light than that of my parents.  I view it as having low morals, low self respect, and being cheap. My own brother and cousins (as close as brothers) were also all sex positive and slept around pleanty before settling down. I have always seen it degrading and not something to be proud of. I've always heard, "people have needs!" and while that may be true I've never understood why being horny means people share their bodies with one another just to get off. For me personally I'm of the mindset that if one is horny they can achieve the same outcome by masterbating. I've never understood the concept of one night stands or sleeping around. It just doesn't compute and never has. It's like a short circuit. I don't ridicule people for making choices about their own bodies, I simply don't associate with those who don't share my values. It's brought a out of drama in the past so I stopped several years ago.

Some people have been taught to believe that it is a bad thing. I don’t necessarily think it is. As long as you are being responsible about it who are you hurting with it?
