Did you have baby showers for babies after your first?

My MIL asked if we are having a baby shower for our second baby. I told her probably not and she is telling me that’s not fair to this baby, we should be celebrating each baby. Also fyi she would not be throwing me one lol

The first time it was great bc we got a ton of baby stuff. This time we don’t need anything, we still have all the baby stuff. We are having a second girl even. I just don’t feel like it’s really needed and I don’t really have a want to even do another lol. Curious what others have done

Instead of a shower since you are having another girl what about doing a baby sprinkle instead of a shower? It is a smaller scale of a baby shower and it still gets you diapers and wipes, and stuff like that?

That’s silly, the baby doesn’t know or care if you have a baby shower or not.

We had a sprinkle. Asked for clothes and diapers. Having another sprinkle for our third. This one is our first boy.

I had my first when I was 18, and didn’t have another for 6 years. My MIL and my parents threw us a shower, it was helpful but I would’ve been okay not having another one. With our third we didn’t have one. I get wanting to celebrate every baby, but if she isn’t throwing you one, why does she care?

We had a shower for our first, a diaper party for our 3rd. We didn't do anything for our 2nd and 4th was during the pandemic so people did send us stuff but we didn't get a celebration.

With my first we didn't really do one because he was a pandemic baby.
This time around we pretty much had everything even though it was a girl I did most of the clothes shopping. I just did a little brunch with a few close friends at a super cute local place. It was perfect!

I had a baby sprinkle for my second girl. Granted they are 7 yrs apart and I didnt have anything left from my first. But I say you should do something for this baby. Something small like a BBQ to celebrate the baby.

My first and second were girls, so we only had a shower for the first. Our third is a boy, but we didn’t do any shower or sprinkle. We talked about it but decided not to. My work threw me a surprise sprinkle, which was more than enough.

I’m also expecting my second girl. We’re planning on just having a diaper party that we host vs a baby shower thrown by someone else. We have most everything from our first (need to update a couple things since there will be almost 4.5 years between them) but we definitely need diapers. We just want a good excuse to get all our friends together and celebrate.
