Nexplanon expiration

Maddie

This might be more of a vent post but I’m feeling super frustrated 🙃 When I got my second Nexplanon on Feb. 2021, my doctor told me it was once again good for another 3 years. That doctor has since moved from the area so I made an appointment for Planned Parenthood today to get my Nexplanon replaced, but when I went in for my appointment, they wouldn’t replace it for me because it’s apparently FDA approved for 5 years now… I’m just having a hard time with this after my doctor had told me 3 years for my first two implants, and the Nexplanon website still says 3 years. I even asked if they could still replace it for me today and they wouldn’t do it because “there’s no medicinal reason to do so” 😓 I just worry a lot and am looking into other places to get it replaced because I would feel more comfortable that way, but I know how a lot of places have to book a few weeks out so I’m now worried about getting it replaced within my 3 year window. Am I going to be okay?
