First Time Mom! How to space feedings??

Hi Ladies,
I’m a new mom and my son is a week old today 🥰🙏🏼.
I wake him every 2-3 hours to breastfeed him per the hospital nurses..
Do I really have to do that or should I let him sleep and wake up by himself when time to eat ?

At that young of an age they don’t wake up on their own when hungry. For the first couple of weeks they need to eat every couple of hours. If they don’t they can get jaundice. 
I fed my baby every 2-3 hours for about 2 1/2 weeks and then I could let her sleep a little longer at night. The pediatrician will talk to you more at his 2 week appointment.

That young he needs to eat every 2-3hrs around the clock. Blood sugar levels can drop very quickly and cause baby hard to wake. Keep waking to feed.

If he’s back at weight, you dont need to wake him at night. I wake every two hours during the day just to get a longer stretch of sleep at night
