Is this normal?

My almost three year old has been getting super sick since he started day care and tonight he has a fever, he was playing with the thermometer and lost it. But he’s very obviously warm where his face and head are pretty hot but his feet are cold. Everytime he has a fever his whole body is hot, is it normal for him to have a fever where only his face and forehead feel hot but not his feet?
