Thoughts on formula??

Question

Have any moms previously formula fed their babies? I exclusively BF my first born. But this time I think I’d like to formula feed for several different reasons. Do you have any tips on bottle brands, formula brands or anything else? I’m trying to do as much research as I can bc this will be my very first time formula feeding. Thanks!

1st born, formula. 2nd born, attempted to BF and pump (only a little while) and formula. 3rd exclusively pumped for 11 months and formula fed. My first and second ended up on the orange can Similac. My 3rd had to be on the purple due to allergies.

I weaned baby #2 a little early since I found out I'm pregnant, but I have been feeding him Kendamil formula from 8 months. It's a European formula, and they have stricter standards, so I went with it. The organic and regular have a $5 difference at Walmart, so if you're looking for organic, this is a good option. It tastes better compared to other formulas I've tried as well. He was exclusively BF and did refuse bottles for a long time, but he didn't spit this formula out. I tried to give my first formula samples I had of various brands, and he spat out every last one and would only accept breast milk, so I take my second EBF baby as a sign that this one has an acceptable taste. My son has started to gain better now on formula as well (he was never interested in more than one side at a time and didn't use me for comfort). One unexpected bonus of formula feeding was baby not sleeping in my bed anymore! That being said, I plan on EBF baby #3. Formula really adds up!

I used mam bottles and pacifiers with my first and used Similac ￼and he did great on them.

My little is exclusively formula fed. I went from Similac 360 to Similac Advance and he’s growing like a weed! I use Dr. Brown bottles. Glass and plastic

Im on baby number 3. I formula fed both of my kids. I used Playtex Drop In Bottles, I liked them because they have disposable liners so it’s less to clean and they are anti colic. Money saving tip, the generic brands of formula are identical to the name brand ones! Ask your pediatrician if they have samples, they loaded us up.  Formula is honestly trial by error to find the right one for your baby. With my first we tried so many and ended up having to use Similac Alimentum due to a milk protein allergy. With my second we used Similac 360 Total Care.

My first was formula fed because we had latch issues. Formula has doubled in price since then and im kinda panicking a little. I really hope this time i can breastfeed just for that reason. But also formula feeding my son was so much less stressful. We liked the gentle ease, or the purple can. Brand didnt matter too much as long as we stayed with the gentle ease version of each brand for him. On bottles, its hit or miss. We tried several and eventually found what he preferred. Each baby is a little different so its kind of trial and error. I plan to get a few different brands and then ill buy.more of whatever works best for us. I'm not committing to one brand until then.

I combo fed since day one and nursed until 13.5 months! With my first. Formula is a great option! We used Dr brown bottles and HIIP formula from Europe. Also a bottle sterilizer was helpful! We didn’t use a bottle warmer.
