I think I have a serious medical malpractice/battery case

I’ll make a long story short. I had a sports injury several years ago and had long term bothersome (though not severe) pain from that. I had several x-rays and two MRIs that were all clear so I was always dismissed.

Finally got referred to a surgeon who said he thought maybe my meniscus was torn and he was willing to do an arthroscopic procedure to check.

Afterwards he told me they removed scar tissue, bursitis and that BOTH my menisci were torn, one being a complex root tear. Both were repaired with Stryker devices.

He gave me instructions to walk immediately, as in the recovery room. Told me I need to be going up and down the stairs on day 2 post op. No brace, no crutches, nothing. Fully weight bearing.

The pain was extraordinary, absolutely horrible. I tried but couldn’t do it. I ended up in so much pain I was admitted into the hospital for 3 days as it made me so sick.

I ended up with a stiff knee and had a manipulation done at the end of December (2 months post op) since I couldn’t bend or straighten it. It failed.

My PT and PCP both pushed me to get a 2nd opinion. I ended up seeing a wonderful, highly recommended and well respected specialty surgeon in the nearest big city. He was DISGUSTED by what had happened all the way from surgery until I saw him for the first time. I should have had a brace, crutches and no weight on it for 6 weeks.

He said that some pictures were missing from my records, that the recovery instructions were egregiously wrong and likely caused further injury. That I’ll need at least one more surgery to fix it all.

I contacted an attorney after that. They believe it’s malpractice and picked up my case.

Well y’all, I had that surgery this week. He said the scarring was shockingly severe, took 4 times as long to fix than what’s typical, and again said it’s because of the treatments I’d had up til now.

What GETS me… he found NO evidence of the so called repairs the previous doctor did?? No healed/healing tears, none of the devices he said were placed are there… nothing. I believe him, he truly is highly respected so I can’t imagine him missing that.

So when it comes down to it, this doctor may have cut my knee open, faked doing repairs, charged me for them and lied in my records. Not to mention maiming me to the extent I needed a manipulation (which as also done wrong) AND another full surgery. I’ll likely never be the same.

Anyone ever heard of this? Gone through this? Am I alone in this for the most part?? I feel scared and completely alone. I was so athletic, too.
