Can you get diagnosed with endometriosis by abdomen mri?

My Dr just diagnosed me with endometriosis through MRI results. However while reading more about endometriosis, a lot of it says it can’t be diagnosed without surgery? My Dr didn’t even give me the option of surgery. Just made it seem like I was going to have a difficult time having children. 
Any advice or clarification on this subject would be much appreciated!

No test or scan will be able to diagnose endometriosis. Laparoscopy surgery is the only way to actually diagnose it. It’s only a suspicion right now

I was diagnosed via MRI due to the extent of my endo. It is DIE and spread to my ureter and rectum, all shown on MRI. My right ovary and fallopian tube have a chocolate cyst and are filled with blood so they don’t really “work.” I believe the diagnosis. I was also told I will have a lot of issues conceiving so I’m going to have a consultation with a fertility specialist.

Ask questions. Ask him what about your MRI makes him suspect that you have endometriosis? Ask him if there will be surgery to definitively diagnose or was he able to do that through the MRI? Let him know that you're understanding was that you can only diagnose it through surgery and what makes him think his diagnosis is definitive without surgery. Only way to offically diagnos Endo is thru lap surgery. And even then some doctors will tell you its wrong. Ive been fighting for over 10 years,had my first surgery at 18 got it confirmed. Ive had 7 surgeriessince to clear adhesions and scar tissue up and have my organs relocated back to where they originally go (my colon and small intestines were fused together and tangled up, my appendixhad to be removed because it had fused together with my stomach. Which thay surgery caused gastroperisis so my stomch no longer works properly and it takes 18 plus hours to digest food) and hella other issues. Then this past year i got a new gyno because mine retired and she tried to tell me i didnt have Endo because i got pregnant (mind you ive been pregnant 5 times, one ended in ectopicpregnancy and three others in miscarriages. I have my son who is my rainbow and will be my one and only.) But still after all of the struggle and heart ache every doctor will have their own opinions on you and your illnesses and treatments. Its gross.

For anyone saying that the only way to diagnose is through lap surgery- please stop. Certain cases are diagnosed through imaging. It depends on the location and severity. Yes, specialists are known to say that lap surgery is the only way. However, I live in a major city, with some of the best specialists around the world- and I’m telling you, it isn’t the case. I have cysts located internally within my ovary, attempting to biopsy it would destroy it. So, I was diagnosed through imaging. After the birth of my daughters the presence of endometriosis was confirmed every time. HOWEVER, prior to any delivery or surgery, I had a full blown endo diagnosis. Stop settling for specialists who don’t have your best interest in mind. Some of you may have a case that doesn’t need or cannot benefit from a surgery yet. The more lap procedures you have done, the more scar tissue you build up, and the more complicated your situation becomes. Do your research, advocate for yourself, and don’t cherry pick where you receive information.
