How many ultrasounds?

Hey ladies. 
Any idea how many ultrasounds would you normally have during your entire pregnancy? For “high risk” and normal pregnancies. I’m 11 weeks and had my first at what I thought was 9 weeks but I actually measured later so I was 10w2d at my US. Just wondering when the next may be for me and how many I’ll have. I have a follow up with my doctor next week, just wondering how things have been for yall. ❤️

Normal pregnancies i think its just about 2 which is first scan about 12 weeks then the last scan is your gender scan. I dont know about high risk pregnancy but they have more scans than 2. I guess depends the reason.

Typically in normal pregnancies you get 2-3 ultrasounds. The dating ultrasound (8-10 weeks), a nuchal translucency ultrasound (12 weeks) and an anatomy ultrasound (20 weeks). 
If you’re high risk, it really depends what you’re high risk for. I’m high risk with chronic high blood pressure (diagnosed 11yrs ago), and I’m very high risk for uterine rupture if I go into labor. So I get ultrasounds every 4 weeks for growth scans and to check my uterus. I’ll be 32 weeks on Saturday and I will start getting weekly ultrasounds now and I’ll get NSTs (non stress tests). I’ll be having a C-section at 36 weeks.

I’m currently pregnant with my third and I’ve only had two ultrasounds each. I was never high risk though. I had the anatomy scan for all three at 20 weeks and then I did a private 3d ultrasound for gender so I could find out with my husband.

It depends on your provider. With my OB, my normal pregnancy I had one at 9 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks and 36 weeks. Pregnant with my third and it’s a normal pregnancy but I’m seeing a midwife. I had one at 6 weeks to make sure it was in my uterus because if a previous ectopic and I’ll have my second one in a few days at 21 weeks.

I have gotten ultrasounds every two weeks since 20w as I found out I had complete previa which resolved around 31 weeks. I just got diagnosed with cholestasis so now I am getting them every week. I'm 33 weeks and because of cholestasis I am being induced at 37 weeks. Only upside is we get to see baby often

I was not really high risk, but I had 8 weeks, 10, 12, 20, 30, 34 weeks. I was on progesterone first 12 weeks. They wanted keep eye on baby. I had more in third trimester cause I was ‘old’ at 36.

Honestly, not a lot. It’s pointless to have an ultrasound at every appointment(to me) unless something is wrong. I think my first was around 6-8w, the anatomy scan, and I believe again around 32w! They normally just use the doppler and I prefer that a lot of the time, being that it’s quick and easy. As long as the heart rate is good, we’re good. You can pay for 3D/4D if you really wanna see the baby’s features but other than that, you don’t really need one at every single appointment. I don’t believe they’ll do one at every one of anyway

I started out as “high risk” because I have endometriosis and PCOS and I think that puts you at a higher risk for miscarriages, so i had an ultrasound at 5 weeks to confirm intrauterine pregnancy and not ectopic, then another one when I was supposed to 8 weeks (but I was actually 7 weeks ). During that one they found a subchorionic hematoma so I came back at 9 weeks to check on that. I had one at 16 weeks because I wanted it, then the 20 week anatomy scan. I had 2 more, one at 22 and 35 weeks, due to issues with Braxton hicks contractions, and then had my baby at 35 weeks. So I had 7 ultrasounds altogether. Sorry for the whole back story 😂

You'll get an anatomy scan at 20 weeks and nothing after that unless there are issues.

My first pregnancy I had scans at 5, 7, 9, 13, 18, 20 and 34 weeks. I had unexplained bleeding so only 3 of the scans were “routine” 
This pregnancy I had a scan at 6, 10(just for fun), 20, 22, and I have another next week at 28 weeks. Then I’ll have scans at all my appointments until delivery. This time around they found a brain anomaly at my anatomy scan so that has to be monitored. 
Most routine/normal pregnancies have about 3 scan.
