Loryna… spotting is this normal?

So I started taking birth control for the first time on March 28th of this year. I had my first child almost 6 months ago & I’m 26. I just didn’t want to have anymore kids anytime soon so I gave in & started taking birth control. I was against for a while because of all the stuff I heard it can do to your body.

Well started taking Loryna & my doctor mentioned that I could not have a period if I didn’t want to by just skipping those 4 sugar pills. So I did that & didn’t have my period earlier this month when I was suppose to. So now I’ve been experiencing this spotting. It’s been going on for about a week now. It was light brown but today I noticed it’s a bit red. Is this normal? Is this my period & it just showed up late? I think I was supposed to get my period on April 8th it’s now April 29th. Also should I take the sugar pills In the future?
