Does Hydrocortizone Cream treat skin cancer?

I have had a pink spot on my chest / collar bone area for a few months. Im not sure what it is, so I called today to make an appointment with a dermatologist just to be safe. Their first available is in July so I booked it. But then I remembered hydrocortisone cream for skin conditions. If I use that and it treats the spot, does that rule out any kind of skin cancer and I can cancel the appointment? Or if it is some kind, does the hydrocortisone cream just lessen the redness but the threat of the cancer is still there?

I am trying to be proactive and careful but would also prefer to not hade to pay for the dermatologist if I don’t need too.
