Developmental Milestones

I have noticed a change in eight year old will come in the house wanting to run, jump, try to jump on the couches I'm not sure how to discipline or correct the behavior, this reminds me of bad attention and I don't understand because we spend quality time together. What are ways to help because I don't want anyone to be upset I don't want the rules broken or the house to get broken he kicked the staircase and broke one of the wood boards he has been destroying the house I could list the things he has done because he feels like it or doesn't matter to him if it gets broken damaged.

How do you set rules and get children to listen? He has been saying to me " I will do what I want!" "I don't care!" He slams the doors when he is angry and will throw things down when he's upset he will put the kitchen chair to the floor he will throw his books on the floor, he will yell at me that he is the boss and can do whatever he wants and I don't know how what to do
