Getting induced next week, any tips?

Hay everyone I'm getting induced at 39w+2 with my first baby and I'm over 35 years old. Anyone have any tips/advice on what I should prepare for? I'm really excited, but a bit bummed to not have my baby naturally like I planned.

Make sure you get plenty of rest and eat good before you go in. Depending on if you are already thinned or dilated you may or may not have to get cervical ripening. If you do have to do cervical ripening sleep while you can, it can be a long process. Also if you are planning on an epidural request to have it as early as possible as things can progress rather quick sometimes and you may lose your chance to get it depending on fast you start to dilate.

Pushing can take 2-4 hours with a first time mom with an epidural. Because of this, the best thing you can do is get all the rest that you can. Get good sleep the night before and get sleep in between whenever possible. I have seen more than one induction turned to csection because of maternal exhaustion. Its typically a marathon, not a sprint. If they ever offer you a break, take it, it can make all the difference physically AND mentally. But you can also request a break, especially if you need cervical ripening.

If the plans is for you to be inducted the doctors have decided thats whats best for baby. Doing natural or doing induced and maybe a csection are all so hard themselves . Youve got this. Just stay calm and the midwives will guide you through it all

Thank you everyone! Baby Michael was delivered successfully! Yall were right about it going a bit quicker and being intense. I opted see how far I could get before getting the eipdural at my last 3 cm. I don't think I'll wait that long if I have to be induced again.

A large flask so you can sip during labour this helped me so much, electrolytes i had in.the water also to give me energy and energy drinks.Lots of easy to eat snacks i packed dried fruit and snack bars, you may be too nauseaus or tired to eat during active labour so these things helped me so much.
