Confused

There’s this guy and we’re dating for a couple of months now and he’s still in contact with his ex of seven years who travelled out of the country and according to him , he doesn’t do distance relationships so they had to separate but u recently found out that they’re still very much dating and obviously the girl is not done with him because they didn’t have any issues asides the travel stuff. I love him but I don’t think he’s ready to move on from that girl and he told me that he loves me and he doesn’t hate her but is communicating to her out of pity. He treats me so well and always assures me that he loves me and he knows what he want, but the other girl is boldly in the picture and still clinging to him because he was her first in everything. I don’t know what to do. Part of me wants to walk away, another part wants to be with him.
