Who keeps the ring ?

My fiancé and I split up. He is asking for the engagement ring back. I chose to leave the relationship because he was abusive towards me and my son from a previous relationship. I need opinions.

BUT if he’s abusive and could harm you over this, just give it back. It’s not worth it if it’s keeping him in contact with you.

Id do whatever avoids the most drama. In this situation it sounds like that would be giving it back. but if y’all have other assets to be split and it can be done amicably, I’d probably lump the ring in there with them.  Or pawn it and split the cost
