induction or let the baby come on its own?

this is my first baby and im 18 years old and yesterday my OB gave me the option to let labor come on its own or scedule an induction, im due august 11th 2024. im currently about to be 37 weeks. can somebody tell me what inductions like? is it worth it? i need to hear more outcomes and experiences before i make my decision.

I’ve been induced 3 times due to high blood pressure. Will likely be induced again as I’m 33 weeks & my blood pressure is becoming high again. I personally have not had any super negative experience with induction, other than it lasting a long time, but I also have nothing to compare it to. It’s the only labor I’ve experienced. That being said, I wouldn’t choose it for myself if it weren’t medically necessary. I do believe letting baby come naturally, when your body is ready, is the best choice.

I’ll probably be the odd one out, but I had my first naturally and my second was induced. I’d rather be induced. It was a much smoother process in my situation. My first I labored for over 36 hours and pushed for 3 hours and I as absolutely exhausted. My induction from start to finish was less than 12 hours and went perfectly. I recommend discussing thoroughly with your doctor and doing your own research into the several studies that have been done.

I’ve had 2 inductions and I wouldn’t have one just for no reason personally . If there’s no medical necessity for one I would let baby come on their own . It’s much harder on your body and baby. But there are people who choose elective inductions . Pitocin contractions are no joke they come on quick and don’t give you a break like natural contractions  . Natural contractions  are like a wave , the come on and build then decrease and you have a little break  before the next . But with Pitocin they hit you hard at first and don’t really get a break it’s almost back to back . My first induction was very hard on my daughter she was very stressed out with my second she seemed totally fine . Usually with inductions  it’s a higher chance of more medical intervention. By that I mean there’s more things they may have to step in with. Like my daughters heart rate would drop so they attached some monitor to her head to monitor her better , my blood pressure went down so I needed medication , my daughter pooped in the womb before coming out and she swallowed it. She wasn’t breathing properly when she came out so they had to take her from me to get her to breathe and cry . Other then those things I do believe mine went smoothly both times . I would get all the information about inductions before making a choice .

my first pregnancy @25 ended in an induction @37 weeks  because of my blood pressure. I believe the pitocin the meds that they give you to bring on labor was the most painful thing i’ve ever experienced. i was in labor for nearly 30 hours. The contractions was the absolute worst. 
Not trying to scare you. I also can’t speak for everyone but that’s my experience with my induction. If i have another vaginal delivery i’m asking to wait it out until my body is ready unless medically necessary then take me to c-section 
which is already in my doctors plans for this second pregnancy because of severe complications of my vaginal birth i had the first go around.

I wouldn’t schedule an induction unless you were already at least 40 weeks. I’ve been induced with both my kids, the first one I was 40+5 and had to get induced because my water was broken but I wasn’t going into labor. My daughter I got induced at 39 weeks because my placenta failed. But if I had a choice I would’ve rather gone naturally, my first labor was absolutely horrible and traumatic. They gave me a super high dose of pitocin and the pain was awful, I was having really bad contractions back to back but wasn’t really progressing. The second one wasn’t as bad because I had a way better doctor, but I’ve heard the pain is worse with inductions, and it can put stress on you and the baby
