Delayed vaccinations

Delayed vaccinations- yea or nay? I know many families who have decided to wait until their child is a year old to vaccinate, and even then they ask the doctor to only do one or two vaccinations at a time, rather than all (or most) at once.
These parents are still having their child vaccinated, just when the child is older and has a more developed immune system.
What are your thoughts? Why?
