Pregnancy scare, partner depressed
Hi all, need advice. I’m (F33) now 3 weeks late from a missed period. Took several pregnancy at-home tests and all were negative. I have an appointment with my doctor for confirmation and checkup scheduled but that’s not the reason for the post. My partner (M35) really wants a baby and gets extremely depressed whenever I do have periods, this false pregnancy episode has really made him break down.
He says that without a family he has no life purpose, goals, or ambitions. He’s a good man and truly wants to be a dad. I on the other hand, never really cared about being a mom and just figured that “if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen”. I don’t believe that a lack of kids equates to a lack of worth or overall happiness.
He says that this is his past (twenties - drugs and alcohol) coming to punish him. But I just think that he’s stressing out over things that are beyond our control. Any advice?
