Dating + Dating Apps

I’ve been dating a guy since July 4th and we’ve known each other and been friends since February. When things first started turning romantic with him, I wasn’t sure if he was looking for a fwb thing or if we were dating, but he’s said in passing a few times that we are dating.

We’re not officially together, but I’ve noticed that he has hinge and bumble still on his phone which bothers me a little bit. We’re constantly together when we’re not at work and I’m at his apartment most nights, so I know he’s not actively SEEing anyone else. And at times I catch glimpses of his phone when he shows me things, so as far as I can tell he doesn’t text or talk to anyone else that way either.

I’ve been in a relationship before, but never one where I “dated” the person before just being together. I need advice on how long people usually date before officially being together. I want to bring it up to him and basically just ask if he plans on officially being with me in the future. I kind of want to ask about the dating apps, but without having a solid label I feel like it isn’t my place to talk about it.

I can’t decide if I want to wait it out or initiate the conversation myself. Help :(
