Dad Phase

Hannah

My almost-2.5-year old son is in a major dad phase. Which I love, don’t get me wrong. They have the sweetest relationship. The problem is he gets extremely upset in the mornings and after his naps when he sees it’s me coming to get him up and not dad. I mean absolutely inconsolable crying and asking for “dada.” I hold him, comfort him, rub his back, tell him “dada will be home tonight and we’ll see him then, aren’t you excited to see dad tonight?” which he always replies “yeah” to. I’m almost 34 weeks pregnant and the 20+ minutes of scream-crying first thing in the morning that’s been happening for the last two+ months is seriously starting to get to me. Is there something else I can tell him to maybe calm him down faster? I don’t necessarily want the “dad” preference phase to end, but will the inconsolable crying for dad every weekday morning+nap end without the dad phase completely ending?
