Wedding ring question

Are moissanites considered fake/cheap? What other alternatives are there besides diamonds for rings? I’ve never been a jewelry person and don’t know these things lol. I like rubies but can’t find a ruby ring I like.

Please don’t comment if you’re only going to tell me that I should be happy with a ring from a toy machine because the ring doesn’t matter. I’m not materialistic. My current ring was $80 but my husband is getting me a new ring and wants me to get something I’ll like and want to wear forever.
