I don’t want to give my baby to him

My husbands verbally and emotion abusive and even punched walls when he’s angry. I want to leave soo bad but I know just to get back at me he’ll make the custody battle hell. He can’t even take care of the baby but hell give her to his mom (who beat him his whole childhood) and I can’t bare the thought of not seeing my baby half the week. What can I do??

He’s even had write ups at work due to his anger issues.
