Should I call off friendship with guy who thinks Hitler was the world’s greatest leader and a wonderful person? For the record I think he was an evil man, and is responsible for the deaths of many many Germans as well as bringing destruction to Europe in WW2. Do I think he had the potential of being a good leader, sure, many scholars say the same thing. Said friend thinks his political and economic power he had was genius and “saw why” he was trying to run out the Jews as they were running everything in Germany and didn’t like how much power they had. Calls me brainwashed for not agreeing, and how the holocaust isn’t what history made it to be, says only 271k Jews were killed, not millions. Even uses slang toward Jews using 🧃 as a reference. To me just listening to him agree and say all this has me view him as some closeted naz!. I bluntly in a joking way asked him a while ago if he was one, and he said no of course not, I have Jewish friends. Something just doesn’t sit right, because he’ll send me these weird WW2 Hitler praising meme clips on social media or saying how better off America would be if the Jews didn’t win and it makes me uncomfortable and comes off cultish of wanting to bring back that type of lifestyle and calling it “truth”. We’re also both American and I told him last night how this doesn’t affect him as an American, and he said “but I have European blood in me and we need to defend the truth”. My dad is from Germany himself and I don’t lose sleep whatsoever over history that can’t be fixed lol because it doesn’t apply to me. For the record I’m no sensitive person and I do listen to both sides, but this is one I cant bring myself to neutrally have middle ground on. Like I don’t think things need to be squashed over different political views BUT when it comes to this I’m almost there to do so with how proud he is of Hitler. Even modern day Germans find Hitler a disgrace and are ashamed.
