Recently staring a career has been weighing heavy on me, I am 25. With 4 kids, I started looking into becoming a police officer but my boyfriend says he doesn’t know if he could date a police officer, he has a small record mainly misdemeanors which were prior to us dating, but I don’t know what any of that have has to do with me working to provide for my family. We have 2 kids together an I’m currently a home health aid, but it doesn’t give financial freedom or the ability to not live paycheck to paycheck I want more for my family and I feel this would be great for us. 
But I also can’t see myself being with someone who can’t support that, am I wrong for choosing my career over my relationship?

I too, personallycouldnt date a cop. Not knowing if theyre gonna get home safely every night. I watch a lot of cop videos and ppl are scary , theres a lot of cruel ppl that u didnt know existed. If you really want to become a cop, he cant stop you, but if his concern is bc you have a family at home, maybe take that into consideration? But if its just bc his past record, tf does thag have to do with anything?

Now if he had said that he couldnt do it because he would be too worried every day about whether or not you would come home to him and your kids, thatd be understandable......but no, his reasoning is he cant date a cop because of some stuff he did in the past before he knew you? That makes no sense. Unless he is still doing shady stuff behind your back, or he believes that if it came down to it then you would pick your job over him if he were to do something now (as you should!) He has no say in what you choose to do for your future. Never let another person stand between you and your dreams.

That man got no say in what you wanna do. Sounds like he’s insecure. You be a police officer if that’s what you want! My mom dreamed of being a police officer and detective all her life and when she finally tried reaching for that goal my dad told her she wasn’t good enough. She never did it and has regretted that for her whole life. (He was abusive and they divorced years ago). Don’t let ur man tell u what you can and cannot be. You’re capable of so much!
