Son has a problem with male authority

My son got suspended again right before fall break. He's in middle school and has developed a problem over the last couple years with male authority. He will listen to a female teacher and female staff but will ignore a male teacher or become very hostile towards them. He got suspended because he kicked one of his teachers. He was talking during class. His teacher told him to stop. He got hostile and tried to leave the classroom. Teacher touched his shoulder to try to talk to him and he turned around and kicked him really hard. He's lucky he's not pressing charges. So he's suspending but the school told me they would like him to see the school psychologist because he does really well with female teachers and listens to them. They just want to see what's going on. My husband said our son is just testing people and "asserting" dominance and he will grow out of it. That he doesn't need a psychologist. I made the appointment behind my husband's back because I don't want our son in jail! He's lucky he didn't press charges this time. Anything could happen and cause him to lash out again which is what I'm worried about.

Edit: Nothing is going on in my home. I don't know why people jumped to something is going on in my home. My son doesn't disrespect his dad. It's mainly other male authority figures.
