estrogen cream

hi all i was put on estrogen cream by my obgyn to deal with loss of sensation that i have. i am young and i have low estrogen, my period ended prior to using it and so i tried it twice but i have started getting reddish brown spotting and i have pain/burning on my vulva. is this supposed to happen? i have a bidet at home and i always use the lightest setting which is barely drops and the water touching my vulva was killer it burned! should i stop using it and consult with him?
