am i lucky? or it just hasn’t hit me yet

Question

Been getting asked if i’m nervous for birth… and my response is not really🤷🏻‍♀️ anyone else feel like that? i think it’s because ive already accepted the fact that i know there will be pain, im not expecting for things to be easy because you never know what will happen. also i think it’s because im okay with whatever happens birthing wise as long as baby comes out healthy. if you get what i mean. i just don’t see the point in stressing because that’s when things start to tense. 
Also I am going to be 38 weeks this thursday.. I do weekly NST testing and everything is good. last week at testing they said i was having contractions but i didn’t feel anything. today i was having some aches but pain level wise its -10/10. can someone just tell me about their experiences towards your last 3 weeks of pregnancy so i can see if we have similar traits. i dont really get a lot of advice or at least any of ideas of what to expect from the mothers i know. so anything helps.

personally, I was the same way with my first, I didn’t start getting nervous until I started noticing labor signs, but i wasn’t stressing too bad, until I was pushing, but I just had sooo many emotions at that point, so I would say how you feel is normal. but my advice, don’t start listening to everyone’s birth stories now, THATS’ what made me start to freak at the beginning of my pregnancy b because people will only want to tell you the worst parts or how their experience was bad etc. then they will start in on the “just wait until…” blah blah blah, I truly believe that’s what made my PPD so much worse because i was only focusing on the bad experiences or stages that I heard from different people
focus on you, read up on the typically birth experience, i promise it will make you feel much better, when you get to the hospital, ask the nurses/doctor what the routine/plan will be like and what steps are next. 
the best “advice”  I was given was by my sister who is a labor and delivery nurse, she told me that the month before I was due she helped deliver over 60 babies that month and not a single one had issues other than 2 and that was only because the moms were on meth their entire pregnancy. for every bad birth experience, there’s WAY more good ones.

I've had 5 babies. I was never nervous for labor/delivery with any of them. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I was scared with my 4th because I was 18 weeks & induced to give birth to a severely conjoined baby but besides that I've never been scared of actual labor/delivery.

I felt the same! No fear, no expectations.. and that mindset helped me during labour! The midwives were surprised how relaxed i responded when some things happened, but I was just happy to have a healthy baby in my arms in the end!    So about the experiences nearing the last few weeks: i had lots and lots of braxton hicks, and with every day that passed I was more done with being pregnant. By the time I thought he'd never come out, I was in labour 2 days later! I lost a big chunk of my mucus plug 4 days prior to labour and started leaking reeeaaally tiny bits of amniotic fluid like 20 hours prior. Then on the day itself I stepped out of bed and got a big gush of water when my water broke! And a few hours later I started noticing some small cramps that I started timing.. they were not that regular, but over the hours they became more and more frequent, more regular and more painful. Thats how I knew I was in labour. Next thing you know theres a lot of pain and, after that, soooo much love you just forget about the pain instantly! My advice would be to prepare for long days of waiting near the end lol. Take your rest, find something or someone to entertain you and just let it all happen!

Same. Never felt nervous about labor coming up. I had 3 labors in 4 years and although the last one was by far a scary one it was “ok”.
I can relate with having no expectations, just wanting it all to be good with healthy mama and healthy baby. I think is the best approach imo because you’re being realistic and open minded for any changes that could arise. NSTs give a certain extra layer of peace and reassurance. Wishing you the easiest of labors ❤️
