How do I tell my family

My boyfriend talks about us getting married, and I’m excited about that. However I’m nervous because my family doesn’t know that he’s a recovering drug addict. He’s been clean for 5 years now. And I didn’t meet him until after he was 1 year clean.

Hes so kind to me and treats me well. He would do anything for me. Hes embarrassed about his past.

I haven’t told my family because he hasn’t told them. And it’s his business. I also am worried my family is going to judge him for it. Because they are judgemental of addicts and alcoholics.

They have known him for 4 years now and really like him. So I’m hoping they don’t judge him too badly when they find out.

I’m worried it’s gonna be a big argument with me and my family. Or my boyfriend isn’t going to want to be with me since my family doesn’t like him. Those are my worries.

Ugh any advice ????

Edit: They don’t NEED to know. I’m worried they will find out somehow.
