Spotting normal after sex?

Yes, hi so im new to being in a relationship, as embarrassing as it seems due to my age yes. Im new to this entire thing and ive got a question because im a bit curious and my mother is really old-school and if id ask... lets just say she'd have my head on a platter. Is spotting after having sex normal? And yes i do use birth control, in my case i had the mirena iud insertion, about 2 months ago now. So im completely curious, is it normal to bleed/spotting after sex?
