My mom thought she would get my son's room
My mom moved in with us last week. She made some very poor financial decisions and because of those decisions she couldn't pay rent and got evicted. I'm allowing her to stay because she's trying to get back on her feet. Me and my mom honestly aren't very close. I lived with my dad and step mom a lot because she would get a boyfriend and run off with him but would also buy me huge gifts to make up for it. I try to cut her some slack because she had me at 15... but I had my son at 16 and I still didn't do what she did but whatever. When my mom moved in she was surprised she would be sleeping on the pull out. I told her we have a two bedroom. What did she expect? She told me she thought we would have our 14 year old move out of his room into the living room. I asked why would she think that. She goes "Back in my dad when you had guests, the guest stay in the kids room and the kids either stay with their parents or in the living room. I'm not parent shaming but personally I never understood kicking your kids out of THEIR room for a guest. I get making guest comfortable but I don't think you should make your kids who's home and safe place it u comfortable to do that. But I told her obviously we weren't doing that. My mom doesn't even know how long she would be staying here. So my mom has started complaining about how this newer generation doesn't respect elders or take care of their parents like they used to. My mom isn't elderly. She's 46. Even if she was I don't think respecting your elders means giving up your room because you have a spending problem. She's just been really ungrateful and rude. She even said it wasn't fair she couldn't have my son's room because my son has a room at his dad's. My son goes over his dad's every other weekend so IDK what that has to do with anything. She's just been making the mood gloomy for a week now
