Wanted to do a good deed

Hi I'm a married 27 year old female.I was leaving the parking lot of a hair salon when an elderly man approached me saying he needed something to eat. He begged me to take him to the KFC up the street. I felt bad for him so i left him have a ride to the kfc. I texted my husband to let him know to watch my location. I got him and this him what i did. He was livid and went off. He told me i had disrespected him by allowing an unrelated man in my relationship. I told him that i felt sorry for the man and wanted to help him. The argument got heated and he is being distant towards me. Need some advice. Was i wrong?
