Five months trying

Hey!!!! My boyfriend and I have been ttc for five months with no luck. I was on birth control for seven years prior and I'm concerned that that's the reason why I haven't conceived. I heard coming off bc after so long I'd be very much fertile but nothing!  I've seen the gyno and she won't test for a year after trying. We both have children and we are ready for our own. Any advice???
