IUI with very low sperm count
My husband and I have been TTC for 9 long years.
We just started our second cycle of IUI. The first time was back in 2012, and it was with timed intercourse. My husband was put on Clomid. The Clomid almost doubled his sperm count, but lowered his motility to almost 0%.
This time, we are trying IUI with insemination of his sperm, and I'm on the Clomid this time.
I don't have any issues at all. The doctor has attributed our inability to conceive with my husband's low sperm count of 2 million with 35% motility (sperm swimming forward). The average male has at least 20 million with 60% motility.
The fertility doctor said our chances of conceiving on our own are less than 1%. He wants us to try IUI 2-3 times first. If that doesn't work, he wants us to try IVF.
Has anyone every heard of or personally had success with IUI with such a low sperm count?
