Seeking Advice- PID Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Hey everyone,
I’m a 22-year-old woman from the UK, and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone has been through something similar.
I was diagnosed with PCOS nearly two years ago, and I recently had another ultrasound and vaginal scan to check if things had worsened. Unexpectedly, my results showed I have Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID).
When my doctor told me this, she was adamant that I should get an STI test, as PID is often linked to infections like gonorrhea or chlamydia. However, both my partner and I have only been with each other, and unsurprisingly, my STI test came back negative.
Despite this, my doctor seemed convinced it was STI-related and didn’t explore any alternative causes with me. I’m now on antibiotics, but I’m feeling quite confused and worried.
Has anyone experienced PID that wasn’t caused by an STI? If so, what was the cause in your case, and did it come back after treatment?
I’d really appreciate any advice or reassurance. Thank you!
