Is it weird for a dad to insist his daughter not wear shorts over her gymnastics leotard?

If the daughter is 8/9 years old. He says if she wears the shorts he’s taking her home and she can’t do gymnastics because she’s not dressed as a real gymnast. Btw this is like little kid gymnastics for fun.

Weird. The only reason the 'real' ones go without shorts is so that the instructor/judges can can see the precision of the movements. Thats not relevant at their level and I dont see why the dad would care what she wears.

Thats really freaking weird. I would honestly call him out in front of the other parents asking him to explain why he doesnt want his young child to wear shorts over her leotard and is threatening to pull her out if she does. Theres literally no logical reason that I can think of that would explain that. If anything, a father should want his daughter of any age to cover herself.

Weird. My daughter is a gymnast and even the higher level competitive gymnasts at her program often wear shorts or even leggings or sweatpants during training.
