Small person questions..

Hello, so me and my partner are trying to get pregnant. (I have endo and pcos so fingers crossed) So I am about 4ft 8 1/2in tall at 75 lbs normally….. so I’m short… and built like a stick. And I’m thinking about how at some point I’m going to have to figure out cribs and changing tables, problem is, some of them I think are way too tall for me!! I have a top dawn washer that will be impossible for me to get clothes out of whenever I’m pregnant already. But does anyone have advice or products I can look into as I go for this kind of stuff? I want to find things that’ll work for a short person like me when I have a baby. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! :) thank you!

I have never had a changing table, just a changing pad on the floor. The washer is an issue ( I'm a little taller than you, but I had issues with my belly being in the way, even on a step stool), I used to ask my tall hubby to help or with my third, I'd plop one of my older children in the drum and let them hand me the clothes and then pull them out 🤣 they absolutely loved it, but that obviously won't work unless you've got littles around. I did see a woman using a claw the other day, and was like, "oh, duh, why didn't I do that?" Anyway, we had this little co sleeper thing with rails that was meant to go in the bed ( I'll see if I can find a picture) but it works just fine on the floor as well for infants, and once baby outgrows that, they will likely be ready for a little floor bed.

It wasn't this one, but like this. There are lots of them if you shop around. See if you are tall enough to handle a bassinet or a bedside bassinet could be a great option. We only had a crib for one kid, and I honestly didn't care for it a bit. Floor beds are great for kids that are too big for bassinets.

I have the opposite problem as I’m a taller person so I always have to lean over and it kills my back. I found getting a dresser and putting a changing pad on top was much easier than getting a legit changing table. Look for a dresser that’s at a good height for you.

I understand this! I’m a bit taller than you at 5’1”, but run into some of the same issues. I don’t think you’ll have as much trouble with most changing tables or even some cribs where the rail drops down, but you WILL have trouble with the lower compartment of a playard, so just keep that in mind. Even at my height, my waist isn’t high enough to bend well over the edge of the playard (and we have two different types), so it really strains my back if I can reach at all. If you’re interested in structured baby carriers/hiking packs at all, try to find ones built for women specifically or just shorter torsos. Wraps are more adjustable, but I just don’t like them, haha. I’ll try to think of more things!

My family is full of little people, my mom is 4’3 and my younger sister is 4’2 and my older sister 4’6 both my sisters have had babies. Feel free to message me, I just had a little person friend have a baby beginning of April. I will ask her what she uses. I know my younger sister used a small round crib and then since her babies were little people at 2 transitioned to toddler beds. But she breastfed so the we’re co sleepers. My older sister was a led to use a normal crib then co sleepers. They make smaller changing tables but I’ve found you use the couch more or a changing pad and the floor

I’m tall, but just wanted to mention when I had my first I bought a changing table and I really never used it. We now use it as a storage shelf in the basement 😆 I have had 4 babies and changed them everywhere but the changing table. Usually I just use a fold up travel changing pad and put it on the floor or the couch and change baby there, and since I am usually in the living room or downstairs I set up one of those 3 tier rolling carts in the living room with diapers and supplies so it is nearby with everything I need. So that’s an option if you want to save money and not even bother with a changing table!

I too am 4’ 8” and 85lbs pre-preg. This is my second pregnancy. My first child I had a bassinet and that helped so much for when he was little little instead of trying to put him in a crib. I did have a crib/changing table combo and used the changing table all the time but still didn’t put him in the crib until he was much older(with the help of a step stool). This pregnancy I’ve decided to skip the crib/changing table combo and bought a bedside crib instead. It’s the perfect height even with the bedside part put up! Washer has been an unavoidable issue for me both times, even with a step stool 😞
