Husband hygiene

My husband has a bad body odor and it’s very unpleasant and makes it hard for me to have sex with him. If and when I do bring it up I try to never insult him or hurt his feelings but he of course gets defensive and upset . He will say things like do I expect him to smell like roses and flowers . Well yeah..he takes showers and it leaves a lingering smell I can’t describe it but it’s a mixture of must and lotion and I really hate it . I feel like nothing will change . I’ve spoke on it before for the past 3 years and he will wash up but if he doesn’t have a dry towel he will air dry his body leaving a smell. Like he one day I said I love love long hot showers and he said “ I don’t “ I’m like why not? He said it’s too much hot water 😂 what????? I’m laughing but I’m really crying . I can’t deal with this anymore
