Has anyone rekindled with an ex one year or so??

My ex and I were so close, best of friends, lovers, great with my son, but he started having issues with hating his job/life, he had just gotten out of the military& hated the job he had , started being really negative and I wanted him to get help, he didn’t want to so I had to leave him. It’s been almost a year and he got that job he wanted, he’s been in therapy months and just in a great headspace. He wants to take me out this weekend and also wants give things another try , i’m curious if this has ever worked for anyone?? It wasn’t a bad breakup at all, he just needed to grow and deep down i’ve felt like he’d be in my life again
