TW assault. Ovulating after plan B?

Question

I was assaulted Monday and took plan b on Tuesday, I’m scared because it’s Friday and I think I’m ovulating. Can I get pregnant or would the plan B still help?

It is unlikely that you would ovulate so soon after taking Plan B. Plan B prevents pregnancy by delaying your ovulation. After about 7 days, you may experience withdrawal bleeding. This is an artificial period caused by the Plan B hormones leaving your body. It is very likely that your next month or two or three’s cycles can be disturbed.
Plan B works really well. The only time it is known to just fail to work is when you take it after you conceived, or very close to ovulation (like in the 24 hours leading up to ovulation).
You can take a pregnancy test about 14, 21, and 28 days after the assault to make sure you are not pregnant. You should however not expect to get a positive result.
I am so sorry to hear that you were assaulted. I hope you are taking the necessary steps to deal with the trauma. Ignoring it is not a good thing.
