Guy friend and boyfriend

So I have a guy that I work with that I’ve gotten to know more over the past year and a half and I genuinely enjoy talking to him, we have things in common, and he gives great advice. There was some work drama going on where our other coworker would get jealous if he would talk to me more or whatever so she has told him her feelings on it but it was cleared up. My boyfriend has told me he doesn’t want me hanging out with him just us two and doesn’t want us calling each other. I don’t feel anything romantic towards him and would never let it get to that point. I want to respect his wishes but I don’t have any friends and he’s the first person in a while that I actually feel like is a good friend and I’d like to have around in my life! My bf has trust issues so I don’t want to force anything on to him but I’ve always expressed to him how much I want to make friends, and I’d like to be able to spend time with them. Idk how to approach him with my thoughts helpppp!!
