If it taste salty then mama there something wrong there😖. Your right at times it does taste sweet... But other times it more like an awkward taste like coconut water or green tea only a little think. So you def weren't wrong.

Quick tip: both of you should try eating pineapple for a week... When you do you'll notice that it taste just like 🍍. It something me and my boyfriend both enjoy and some others I told trust me👌🏽
