How do I deal with shady work friends

I work close with two people at work. A male and female. I use to adore them. Now I don't trust them. One is always leaving me hanging on projects to do alone. He will take off or not show up. The female seems to tell the boss everything. What should I do? I have to work with these people. I'm so confused and feel so naive for trusting them.
