Jealous mom!?

Has anyone else seen problems rise between your mom and MIL. There is some bad blood between my mother and I but I still love her and want to give her a chance to be in babys life but she has told me that she is jealous of my husband's mom because it seems I have a closer bond to her. I spend more time with my mom then I do with his but still my mom knows she has messed up with me and hurt our relationship in a way that can't be forgotten. Is she being childish. Need some advice please.

My mom is a flat out wacko. I have limited relations with her and I keep good boundaries. I have a great relationship with my MiL. I'm not sure my Mom realizes that since she thinks she's so amazing and truly believes that no one is better than she is. She has to be the most insecure messed up person I have ever met. My Mom is jealous and comparing herself to literally everyone on the planet. It must be an exhausting way to live.

Know this, no one can make you feel anything, guilt included. If you feel guilty for having a good relationship with your MIL, that's on you. You can't control her craziness. You can control your response and how you move forward. Keep your head above the fray and don't engage in pettiness. If she's jealous, that's her problem, not yours

I'm closer to my mil then my own mom!!  My mom is a nut case and she use to cause drama between my husband and I.  She would get my sisters and I against each other she is just a very toxic person in general so I keep my distance from her!!!

My mom and I have had a rocky relationship for years... Like the last 8 or so. Ever since my sister announced her pregnancy/my niece being born its only gotten worse. I'm clearly on the backburner. So I tend to spend more time and have a better relationship with my mother in law. My mom told me in the last couple of weeks that she's hurt that I'm closer to my in mil. Its hard not to be when anytime I have a question or issue I call my mom I don't hear back all day. And when I call my mil I hear back almost instantly. For my birthday last year my mom didn't call me til 8pm cause she was in disneyland with my brother.... She used that as her reason not to call me earlier in the day. All my life birthdays have been one of the biggest things ever to my mom and all I got was a 2 minute phone call while she was walking around the magical kingdom. My mil? Called me that morning/afternoon and even got me a necklace that I adore and a gift certificate for a restaurant in Seattle so my hubby and I can have a date night.... My mom might be jealous of the relationship. But she's pushing me away. Not the other way around.

She's not being childish she's just being human....jealousy is natural but she needs to realize that your relationship needs repair and that may take more time than she would like

I'm kinda, sorta in the same boat. My MIL was an awesome person. Unfortunately she passed away last year. My mother has also broken my trust in her. We still have a so/so relationship, but it doesn't feel like a mother/daughter one. She sounds jealous and she has every right to be, but if she screwed up your relationship with her she has no one to blame but herself. Don't let her guilt trip you.
