When hobbies become a problem.

Question

So last night my bf and I were supposed to get together and hang out but he is always gaming and usually he will walk away for a while talk to me but last night his (single i don't want to change my life friends) were giving him shit about stopping the game to talk to me and they had been gaming for 4+ hours already. We eventually had an argument resulting in me hanging up the phone and shut of the ringer. 
Does anyone have and advice that might be helpful? That is not a break up?

It really depends. If it was an isolated incident influenced by friends then I'd say just talk to him about how it made you feel. If he cares about you, he will listen to your feelings and try to compromise. Also, I'd take into consideration your age. For instance, my husband is 27 and I'm 30 and we are trying for a baby. If he ignored me to play games I'd question his maturity/readiness for a family. But a 19 yr old with no real big responsibilities... I'd say it's not a big deal. If he is constantly playing and ignoring you, and won't compromise to be considerate to your feelings, then you may want to reconsider your relationship as it probably won't get any better.

Communicate. Tell him how you feel. If videogames are more important than his relationship, he's not ready for one.
